Change your iPhone wallpaper every day with Shortcuts
Use a Shortcuts automation to set a new wallpaper from an album every morning on iPhone, step by step, and what it can and cannot do with Live Photos.
A personal automation can pick a random photo from an album and set it as your wallpaper at a time you choose. It sets the still image; Shortcuts cannot make a wallpaper move. Use it with the phone stills from Wallmill for a different scene every day.
1. Make the album
- Download a few phone stills from Wallmill and save them to Photos.
- In Photos, create an album called Wallmill and add them.
2. Build the shortcut
- Open Shortcuts, tap the plus button to make a new shortcut.
- Add Find Photos, and set the filter to Album is Wallmill.
- Add Get Random Item from List.
- Add Set Wallpaper Photo, pick which wallpaper and screens it changes, and turn off Show Preview.
3. Run it every morning
- Go to the Automation tab and tap the plus button.
- Choose Time of Day, set a time such as 7:00, and choose Run Immediately.
- Pick the shortcut you just made.
Action names shift slightly between iOS versions. If you cannot find one, search for "wallpaper" in the action list.
