How to save a Live Photo from a zip on iPhone
Turn a photo and video pair from a zip into one Live Photo on iPhone: open it in Files, select both files and Save to Photos. Includes what to do if it saves as two items.
A Live Photo is two files that belong together: a photo and a short video, linked by a shared ID inside each file. Safari cannot save them to Photos from a web page directly, so Wallmill gives you both in a zip. The Files app does the rest.
Steps
- On the wallpaper page, tap iPhone Live Photo. Safari asks to download; tap Download.
- Open the Files app and go to Downloads (or tap the download arrow in Safari and tap the file).
- Tap the zip once. Files unzips it into a folder with the same name.
- Open the folder. You will see a .JPG, a .MOV and a README.
- Tap Select (top right, or the three dots menu), then tap both the .JPG and the .MOV.
- Tap the Share button, then Save 2 Items or Save to Photos.
- Open Photos. The newest picture should show LIVE in the top corner. Press and hold it to see it move.
It saved as a photo and a separate video
- Delete both from Photos and save them again, selecting both files in one go. Saving them one at a time does not pair them.
- Make sure you used the files from the zip without editing or renaming them in another app first.
- If Photos still shows two items, tell us through the contact page with your iPhone model and iOS version.
Next: set it as your wallpaper.
